Post Fiji to auction unclaimed items
POST Fiji Limited has recorded 194 uncollected items in the past six months and these will be auctioned on August 3 if they are not collected by then.

The items and names of the intended recipients were published in a Government gazette last Friday.

Post Fiji public relations officer Merelita Isimeli said the items were not delivered because the addressees could not be located as a result of insufficient and incorrect addressing by the senders.Mrs Isimeli said some senders had also not enclosed their address, thus returning the items to them was impossible.

"The unclaimed items are auctioned twice a year, every six months. It is a normal procedure and occurs every year," she said.

Mrs Isimeli added Post Fiji had an obligation to ensure the delivery of postal items, however, insufficient details and wrong addresses made delivery impossible.

The auction is likely to take place at Post Fiji's mailing centre at Laucala Beach in Nasinu.
